Fall. Everyone has their own association with it and I’m like a true New Englander firstly think of pumpkins. Yep, we have pumpkin latte, pumpkin soup and pie, pumpkin beer, pumpkin candles and even pumpkin soap and I bet a deodarant. Everything has to be pumpkin, kinda.. But there are also apples and apples in season are just amazing. You can easily just drive up to one of the hundreds farms near by and go to the orchard to pick some apples or buy them at the stand. Alex and I are often go to a farm or farmers market because we absolutely love fresh produce.
Apples are delicious and comforting. Not a secret that the best baked deserts are made with apples and I can tell you for sure apple crisp is one of the best! It’s less sugary and less fat than a pie but yet savory. When you want real flavor, you just add things you like (and your favorite ice-cream to pair it with) and enjoy it with the cup of tea. I experimented with my crisp until I realized it doesn’t have to be just apples, it can have fruits I like (and in season), granola for an extra crunch and dried dates for the exceptional flavor. Try making it to see if you like a taste of New England 🙂
